One of the repetitive themes in the Bible that people overlook concerns “the joy of the Lord” and how it is that “the joy of the Lord is our strength.” They also overlook the fact that the enemy comes but to steal, kill and to destroy.
John 10:10 (ASV) The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly. …
What is the enemy looking to steal to start off with? Come on now… its your joy in the Lord. When he takes it he takes it little by little, bit by bit. You hardly notice it and then one day you wake up depressed, in a foul mood, feeling defeated and overwhelmed. It’s the Sansom syndrome… the devil had cut of the source of your strength.
We see clearly that Jesus comes to give joy abundant and the enemy comes to steal joy. It’s the give and take struggle. Your job as a child of God is to guard the treasure of the joy of the Lord, the presence of the Lord, the worship of the Lord in your life. Joy just like everything else must be received of the Lord. If I handed you an apple but you did not take hold of it, then you did not receive it. Jesus is giving joy abundant, yet you have to take hold of it to possess it.
Maybe today what you need is time in the presence of the Lord worshiping Him, praising Him, receiving the Joy of the Lord from Him that will restore your spirit and your soul to high places.
Say, “Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name! You are He who gives joy. You are my strength when I am weak. To give up I’d be a fool because You, Jesus are my all in all, the Lamb of God!”
Start right here and begin to worship the Lord with all of your heart, mind and soul and all of your being. In His presence is the fullness of joy.
