In the Old Testament Moses put a veil over his face after having met with the Lord upon Mount Sinai. Why would he do that? Well at first his face was shining because he had been in the shekinah glory of God and his face glowed with golden particles and light. Many people think that Moses veiled his face because it was so bright that it bothered people. The sad truth is that Moses hid his face behind a veil to hide something. What was he hiding? The reality is that as time went on the face of Moses began to grow dimmer and dimmer and Moses didn’t want the people of Israel to see the fading glory. You can imagine right? You were with the Lord and all of a sudden gold flakes are coming out of your pores, from your skin, in the palm of your hands, and all over your face. Its translucent, but when you turn just the right way the brightest of bright gleam reflects off of you. It could be intoxicating for any man.

But we friends, those who gather together in Christian community, we have a vastly different story to share. When we reflect upon the glory of the Lord we don’t cover our faces with veils. Why not? Well its because Jesus is far superior to Moses. Moses was one of the greatest servants in the House of God, but Jesus owns the House, the gathering, the redeemed, the church. Because Jesus lives and does not die, nor fade in glory, neither do we because we are being changed daily into His image with “EVER-INCREASING GLORY.” This is a gift from the Lord, that He would have us gaze upon Him and be transformed into His likeness day by day.

Remember that Jesus prayed a prayer for unity among His followers, not that they be taken out of this world, but that they be united!
